Weekend Styled

21 Jul

All my friends know I am the girl who changes at least 10 times before I find the right outfit to wear. I always have an outfit planned in my head to wear, then I put it on and it doesn’t look or feel right. I am somebody who likes to be stylish, but comfy at the same time. I HATE having to wear any type of special undergarments, especially a strapless bra.

Here’s to NO special bra, fashionable, comfy, and an awesome color palette.

Have an AMAZING weekend!

The Edison

20 Jul

I love going into home stores and getting inspiration for my own casa. Yesterday, my hubby and I decided to take a quick peek into one of our favorite stores , West Elm. While I was walking around, I could not help but notice all the amazing light fixtures. My favorite ones had all Edison bulbs. There is something special about these bulbs. For me, I like how they give a modern/vintage feeling to a home. For others,  it might be different story. Let me know what you think!

{OBSESSED}: Braid-spiration

19 Jul

Braids Gone Wild! All summer long I have been seeing braids of all different types! It is amazing the creativity girls can do with a braid. We have french, fish, inside/outside, knotted, sailor…I mean the list can go on and on. Even better, it can be an everyday look or awesome up-do that can be seen on the red carpet. I am huge fan. A braid is an easy way to make your hair look put together by just twisting some hair around each other. I hope this trend does not leave anytime soon, even if it does…I’m keeping it.

Inspired: Rose Gold

18 Jul

Lately, as I have been shopping around different malls and boutiques I noticed myself being drawn to rose gold. This has been a trend going on for sometime now. Unfortunately, I don’t own any rose gold accessories yet, but I sure am hopeful to have some soon.

Happy Tuesday!

Obsessed: Infinity

16 Jul

Recently, I am obsessed with the infinity symbol, especially in jewelry. People use this symbol in many different ways such as tattoos, decorations, and  clothing. It’s a symbol that is interpreted differently by each person wearing it. Mostly, I feel it has a meaning of forever. However this symbol is used, I like that fact that it can give inspiration to all in a variety of ways.

Which, who doesn’t need a little inspiration to wear each day either permanent or as an accessory?

Trend Alert: Scallops

15 Jul

Out with the old and in with the new! Over the past few months, I have noticed a huge trend of the scallop. It is EVERYWHERE. I found this design on clothing, shoes, home furnishings, jewelry, wedding backdrops, decorations, paper supplies and anywhere else you can think of. If you’re out shopping or Pinteresting just take a look around it’s sure to be seen.

So say Goodbye to Chevron and Hello to Scallops!

She’s About To Pop!

13 Jul

My cousin Nicole is one of the most amazing people in my life. She is not only a cousin, but I consider her a  best friend and sister. During Thanksgiving, I found out she was expecting her first baby and a few months later I found out  IT’S A GIRL. When I found out she was pregnant, I knew I wanted to throw her an amazing baby shower since she has done so much for me in the past and everyone knows I love to throw a party! So my sister, aunt, and I all came together and planned her a super girly  baby shower that I hope will be an everlasting memory as she watches her new baby girl grow up.

We went with a popular dessert table theme of She’s About To Pop! On the dessert table food items were: Popcorn, Baby Rattle Pops, Cake Pops, Chocolate Dipped Rice Crispy Treats, and Onesie Cookies.

Baby Rattles, Cake Pops, and Rice Crispies:  Rachel Strmiska and Melissa Paulo.

Onesie Cookies: Julie Garza

The color palette chose for decorations was a variety of pinks, white and turquoise. We folded the napkins as bows. Each table had a center piece of girly outfits for the mom-to-be to take home. The flowers were bought from the local grocery store and put in mason jars with a rhinestone hanger.

Keeping with the girly theme, we had a headband/clip making station for people to use their creative skills and in order to keep this new baby looking stylish.

Lastly, we created a backdrop for all the pictures being taken as she opened gifts and read book dedications from her guest to her baby girl. It was a nice place for Nicole to sit so everyone can see her and she was very comfortable in her new refurbished pink rocking chair (she got to keep it too for the nursery).

As can be seen, she received lots of new goodies for her baby girl that is due this month. It was a true pleasure planning this special event with my aunt and sister and I couldn’t have done it without them.

Favorable Hydration

12 Jul

Like so many of us, I love Diet Coke. I have a tendency to become easily addicted to food and drink items (why not the gym, who knows). I made a decision last Fall  to give up Diet Coke due to health reasons and wanting to try healthier drink items. This was hard my friends, especially since I would drink a soda everyday for lunch! Let’s just say, water and ice tea can get boring at times. Since going to Santa Barbara in May, I have been a little obsessed with sparkling water all thanks to my friend Nina. She had some at her house while visiting and I became addicted. The Arrowhead® brand comes in many different fruit essences which is exciting because I get to experiment different delicious drink recipes (even with Vodka).

The one I tend to obsess on is Sparkling Raspberry-Lime. It’s simple, yet refreshing and delicious.  All you have to do is add raspberries to a cup, mash them down with a fruit muddler and add a little sparkling water and Voilà! You can dress it up for parties by putting in a pitcher and some pretty glassware. I have even added some mint for garnishing! The best part is I finally get to choose a healthy option that taste good and doesn’t make me miss soda while others drink it in front of me.
